Shipping packages from Canada to Ukraine costs depend not only on weight but also on the volume of items — so reducing packaging volume directly lowers delivery costs. At the main Meest office in Toronto, vacuum packing of bulky items on the spot for just a few dollars solves this problem. Additionally, there are ways to get a discount on your next shipment and options to send a package without leaving your home.
Why package volume affects price
When calculating shipping costs, not only the actual weight of the package is considered, but also the so-called volumetric weight — the size of the items being shipped. The larger the volume, the higher the shipping cost, even if the weight itself is small.
At the main Meest office in Toronto, you can immediately buy a box and use vacuum packing for bulky items — a service not offered by other postal services like DHL. A vacuum bag costs around $3, and a vacuum packing machine is available right in the office. Reducing the volume of items immediately lowers the cost of shipping to Ukraine or other countries around the world.
What changed in the office
The central Meest office in Toronto has been operating for about 20 years and used to look like an ordinary warehouse. Recently, the premises were renovated: they created a modern design, installed a free-to-use coffee machine for visitors, and set up a children’s corner where kids can play while parents arrange shipments.
Directly in the office, they also opened a branch of a passport service — a Ukrainian company that handles passport issuance.
How to get a discount on shipping
Toronto has three Meest offices — in the city where the main office is located, as well as in Mississauga and Richmond Hill. Recently, the company launched a promotion: if you leave a review of the office’s service on Google Maps, you can get a coupon with a discount on your next shipment.
Where and how packages are sent
Meest sends packages not only to Ukraine but also to many other countries around the world, including a recently opened delivery route to India. There are also shipments within the US and Canada — as a regular postal service.
Money can currently be sent from Canada to Ukraine, but not in the reverse direction. Packages, however, travel regularly: either by air or by ship. A regular package takes a minimum of two weeks, maximum of one and a half to two months, depending on the chosen delivery method.

Shipping without visiting an office
The company has a network of partners, so you can send a package without leaving home. On the Meest website, you can use the services of Purolator, USPS, or Canada Post for package delivery. In this case, you can drop off your shipment directly at the office of these partners rather than Meest.
This method is usually more expensive because each intermediary adds their own markup. However, if you need speed and convenience — especially for those living in Toronto, Mississauga, or North York — going directly to a Meest office is often the faster option.
